Color Guard

The Cedar Park Color Guard is an integral part of the award-winning Cedar Park Band program, where members perform with the Marching Band in the fall and compete in Winter Guard during the spring season.

Color Guard is a unique activity that blends dance, and the artistic use of equipment such as flags, sabres, rifles, and props. Students develop confidence, leadership, coordination, and collaboration skills while building lasting friendships and becoming part of a supportive team environment. Whether performing under the Friday night lights or competing on the Winter Guard floor, Cedar Park Color Guard is dedicated to excellence, creativity, and school pride.

Students from a variety of backgrounds are welcome, and our program is designed to teach foundational skills while providing opportunities for personal growth and achievement. We would like to continue to grow our program by building community awareness and participation, and that starts with you!

Marching Band

During the fall semester, the High School performs alongside the Cedar Park Timberwolf Marching Band. Often referred to as the "visual performers" of the ensemble, color guard members help tell the story of the music and create an engaging experience for audiences.

Rehearsals begin in July and continue through the beginning of November. Throughout the fall, members perform at football games, community events, and culminates at the Bands of America (BOA) San Antonio Super Regional Championships and University Interscholastic League (UIL) State where we are the reigning 5A State Champions! During the marching season, color guard members attend one sectional rehearsal each week in addition to full marching band rehearsals.

The Fall for Middle School is a training season where the guard performs at pep rallies and High School Football games.

Winter Guard

Following the marching season, the program transitions indoors for Winter Guard. Winter Guard performs to recorded music and competes as an independent ensemble, combining choreography, storytelling, and advanced equipment techniques in a gymnasium setting.

The Winter Guard season runs from November through April and includes competitions throughout Texas as part of the Texas Color Guard Circuit (TCGC), as well as championship-level events through Winter Guard International (WGI). These performances provide students with additional opportunities to develop their skills and challenge themselves artistically.

The Cedar Park Guard program supports 3 ensembles: middle school, high school JV, and high school Varsity guards.  The structure of our program allows us to provide varying levels of guard experience to our middle and high school members. During the winter season, both varsity and junior varsity teams rehearse twice each week, with occasional additional rehearsals for varsity performers as needed.
